Employment Assistance

What We Do

The ASRC Employment Assistance Program has been running since 2004 and has assisted over 400 asylum seekers in all aspects of job seeking and training, including:

  • Job searching
  • Resume writing
  • Interview skills
  • Career/study guidance
  • Links into study, training and scholarship programs

We work with asylum seekers who have work / study rights. The majority of these people are looking for unskilled and semi-skilled jobs such as kitchen work, cleaning, warehouse work, labouring and factory work. However, we also have a number of clients seeking work in skilled areas including child care, aged care, accounting, administration and engineering.

How You Can Help

Finding employment can be a major positive turning point for our clients. It gives them back their independence and their dignity. It is an amazing thing to see the change in a person who is finally able to use their long earned talents and abilities to benefit the community.

You can help our clients achieve this. How you can help:

  • Consider one of our Job Seekers for your next vacant position
  • Contact us if you need someone for a one off job such as moving or gardening
  • Notify our program of any suitable employment opportunities you may come across
  • Tell your friends and networks about our program, our Job Seekers and this website
