* ASRC’s Annual General Meeting - Monday November 20th

The AGM commences at 6:30pm, Monday November 20th. All volunteers are invited to attend. There is a one off $5 membership fee available which will allow you to vote for the committee of management nominees at the AGM.

* ASRC’s End of Year BBQ - Sunday December 3rd

A great afternoon to be held in the Flagstaff Gardens for everyone in the ASRC community to come toge ther and celebrate. Food, music and excellent entertainment provided. Please especially encourage all asylum seeker families and individuals to come along!

* ASRC’s Volunteers Party - Friday December 8th

As a small appreciation, the ASRC will have a volunteer party, on Friday (evening) December 8th at the centre from 6pm - all volunteers/ partners & families are very welcome. There will be good food, drink and (most importantly) fantastic company of many other volunteers - we hope you can come along!

* ASRC Toy Store - Sunday December 10th & Monday December 11th

Toys will be available at the centre for asylum seeker parents to chose from on Sunday December 10th & Monday December 11th. As was the case from last year; instead of distributing toys at the end of year BBQ; parents will be able to chose and collect toys from the toy store to be set-up at the ASRC a week after the end of year party.

There are five mothers having children in the next two months. We are having a film fundraiser on November 14th to raise some funds to helps mums buy items for their new borns.

The Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre in Brunswick is offering some fantastic FREE performing arts and music workshops from October 28th - December 16th at the Welcome Centre in Brunbswick.
 
The Welcome Centre would really like to encourage members of the ASRC to come along as they have some fantastic facilitators.
 
Workshops will be held every Saturday at the Brunswick Uniting Church from 2pm - 4pm. Refreshmnets will be provided and there is an opportunity for travel costs to be reimbursed.

The ASRC 5th Annual Trivia Night is on Saturday the 18th of November at the Collingwood Town Hall. A great night of fun, entertainment, trivia and delicious snacks. Its our one big fundraiser each year, please get behind it. We have Anne Phelan, Rachel Berger and Alan Brough as MC’s, gourmet finger food, great entertainment, silent auctions and ofcourse TRIVIA!!!

18th of November is our annual trivia night, our one big fundraiser for the year, please get behind it if you can and bring your friends along, always a wonderful night.

Put Human Rights Day December 10th in your diary for our end of year party for asylum seekers, a party with more than 500 people attending, music, food and games for asylum seeker families and volunteers welcomed to come and attend on day, help out and have fun. More details coming soon.

On Sunday the ASRC took 20 asylum seekers to Warnambool for the day where they had a wondeful time watching whales and having a picnic.

The ASRC in collaboration with a number of artists will be presenting Material Word an exhibition for 2 weeks in Federation Square (its free), sharing the stories of asylum seekers through art.
