Corporate Engagement

Corporate partners are an exciting and valuable part of the ASRC. The corporate engagement program develops long-term, sustainable partnerships with businesses to create mutual benefits for the ASRC and its members as well as for the business partner. Corporate partners gain a first hand insight into the real benefits of their contribution whether it is through corporate volunteering, skilled mentoring or workplace giving.

Volunteer - Madeleine Smythe

"As a volunteer in the Employment Program, I have seen first hand how empowering corporate partnerships are - they raise confidence levels and a sense of security of asylum seekers through skilled mentoring as well as by creating employment opportunities."

What We Do

You can be involved in a number of ways:

1. Program Sponsorship – Sponsoring a program enables the effective delivery of critical services to asylum seekers. A business can choose to sponsor any one or more of the 23 programs at the ASRC that address areas of Aid, Empowerment, Justice or Community.
2. Corporate Volunteering – The structured volunteering program for corporate volunteers provides a range of programs so volunteers can get either hands-on experience in the centre or provide skilled support.
3. Mentoring – Mentors are an invaluable resource and can provide specific advice (e.g. employment mentors) or friendship and support to our members. Mentoring provides a real hands-on approach and the rewards are priceless.
4. Workplace giving – Through work place giving individuals can reduce their taxable income while providing critical support to some of our most vulnerable members through regular deductions from their salary (add link to site for workplace giving)
5. Pro-Bono Work – Support through pro-bono work is critical for both operational and efficient service provision to our members. If you have any skills and expertise that you would like to share, we are more than happy to speak to you.
6. Social Enterprise initiatives –Social Enterprise opportunities provide a innovative and sustainable way to empower asylum seekers to contribute to society. Businesses can invest in these social enterprise initiatives in a number of ways including training, project management, marketing and financing.
7. Micro-credit schemes – Micro-credit loans through the assistance of business partnerships have been effective in providing financial support to members employed by the current ASRC social enterprise initiatives. ASRC provide a rigorous assessment and administration system to ensure that loans are utilised effectively and beneficially for our members.
8. Employment and work experience opportunities – Businesses can contribute to the highly successful ASRC Employment program that provides a fundamental avenue for skilled members finding employment opportunities. Businesses can contribute via financial support, work experience placements or employment opportunities
