FAQ on ASRC SYDNEY COMMUNITY ACTION HUB

Passionate about refugees and people seeking asylum but dismayed at their treatment and the level of the current debate? There is action you can take to help change this.

What is the ASRC Community Action Hub that is about to start in Sydney?

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre is thrilled to announce we will be establishing our Community Action Hub in Sydney in 2017!

Our Community Action Hub will collaborate with the terrific New South Wales refugee organisations and groups in the areas of lobbying and advocating for real change. We are so excited that we will be working side by side with these organisations and the local community.

We will also be working with the local New South Wales community to have persuasive conversations by sharing tools based on our ground-breaking Words That Work research.

Who can be benefit from the ASRC Words That Work Research?

We will start with running workshops with the local New South Wales refugee sector who are at the coalface doing the hard yards right now. We will then open the workshops to community groups such as schools, youth groups, sporting clubs, businesses and faith based organisations.

Can I volunteer at the Community Action Hub?

Yes. You can find out more about our Community Action Hub and how to volunteer for it in New South Wales in person by coming to our Volunteer Information Night on the 20th of September by booking here.

How do I register interest if I would like my organisation or group to participate in the Words That Work workshops?

You can send us an email at: action.nsw@asrc.org.au to register your interest. Once we begin offering workshops to the public in 2017 we will be in touch.

When will it be opening?

The ASRC Community Action Hub will be opening in 2017.

Will it provide any direct services to people seeking asylum?

No, we will not be providing direct services to people seeking asylum in New South Wales. There is already a wonderful and dedicated refugee sector in New South Wales and we do not want to duplicate the great work already being done there.

Will there be any paid positions going?

Yes, there will be two local paid positions to manage and run our Community Action Hub in Sydney.  They will be advertised in early 2017. Look out for the ads on Ethical Jobs and the ASRC website and Facebook page.
