ASRC Catering wins 3rd place in Ethical Enterprise Awards

ASRC’s longest running social enterprise, ASRC Catering recently took out third prize in Moral Fairground’s Ethical Enterprise Awards, held on 20 October 2016. The catering business which employs around 30 people seeking asylum, won $15,000 worth of mentoring an business consultation from One10.

ASRC Catering was recognised for its commitment to providing social and economic empowerment to people seeking safety in Australia, and now has two awards under its belt in the last 9 months which includes The Age Good Food Guide 2016 Food for Good Award.

The other six finalists included ASRC Cleaning another successful social enterprise of the ASRC.

The Social Enterprise Awards 2016 received 119 applications across eight award categories – including caterers and fresh food delivery, real estate and retail that provide employment and training opportunities for refugees and marginalized groups; safe and secure housing opportunities for disadvantaged women and their children; consulting services fostering cultural inclusion and sustainability for the environment.

The Social Enterprise Awards is a national social enterprise industry event, created and produced by Social Traders. An expert Advisory Panel has been established to assist Social Traders in the design, promotion and conduct of this year’s Awards involving representatives from the School of Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), Social Ventures Australia (SVA), The Difference Incubator (TDI), Thankyou Group, Community Business Bureau Inc, Generosity Magazine, Queensland Council for Social Enterprise (QSEC) and Social Enterprise Finance Australia (SEFA).
