Advocacy & Power Program

The Advocacy and Power Program is a four-month structured program that provides networks, support and mentorship for refugees and people seeking asylum who wish to empower people and contribute to public and cultural conversations while providing insight into their lived experience to shift community attitudes.

The Advocacy And Power Program supports people with lived experience of seeking asylum through a combination of intensive workshops with recognised professionals and diverse forms of public and cultural communication. A support system with a dedicated ‘buddy’ at ASRC helps build networks, resources and empower the voices of lived experience.

It engages respectfully by providing support but not pre-determining their mode or means of expression and to do so with full understanding and awareness of the risks of entering into the public conversation.
